In one paragraph
This note groups public announcements from January to September 2026 by what they change about autonomous hunting rather than by company: who starts a hunt, what an agent can reach while it runs, how intelligence becomes a rule, what the agents themselves run on, who is funding the category, and which shared references moved. Every item is taken from the announcement itself and linked at the end. The note records what was announced; it does not judge it.

What does this note cover?
It covers announcements dated from 29 January to 21 September 2026, from the six vendors in this guide's directory and from the MITRE ATT&CK and Sigma projects. Short summaries of most items are on the news page; here they are grouped by theme, and within each theme listed by date.
Who starts the hunt?
Two announcements are statements about initiative, the question at the center of this guide's autonomy levels.
- 18 March 2026: Nebulock published a post introducing Vespyr, which it describes as an autonomous hunter. Its platform page adds that Vespyr "hunts without a directive".
- 16 September 2026: Mars Security introduced MARS playbooks in a blog post built on the idea that some attacks do not fire an alert but fail a hypothesis. The framing puts a testable hypothesis at the start of an automated hunt.
What can an agent reach while it hunts?
Several releases widen the data or context an agent can use during a hunt without copying it first.
- 4 June 2026: Artemis Security added Claude Enterprise Compliance API events, normalized to OCSF, alongside the cloud, identity and SaaS telemetry it already correlates.
- 28 July 2026: Anvilogic announced general availability of Blueprints workflow automation and a Federated Search experience powered by Anvilogic Compute.
- 29 July 2026: Nebulock introduced Helix, which lets its agents query vulnerability management and security tools on demand instead of pre-ingesting that data.
- 30 July 2026: Anvilogic released version 8.0, covering data onboarding, search, detection and investigation, adding Elastic, CrowdStrike LogScale and Dynatrace to federated search, plus case management.
- 21 September 2026: Vega integrated Wiz exposure, privilege and sensitive data attributes into its detection and investigation workflows.
The common thread is that more of the agent's work happens at query time. That makes the questions in query cost and data scope more pressing, because each new source an agent can reach is also a new place where it runs queries.
How does intelligence become a rule?
- 8 September 2026: Mars Security announced Real-Time Intel-Based Detection, which converts threat intelligence advisories into MITRE ATT&CK-mapped detections and backtests each against 30 days of the customer's own data before release. The company says the feature is available to all customers at no additional cost.
This is the promotion step described in the lesson from hunt to production detection, and the backtest window is one of the few specific numbers any vendor in the directory publishes about it.
What do the agents run on?
- 13 April 2026: Cotool published research benchmarking frontier models on a real macOS infostealer intrusion across response, hunting and detection tasks.
- 29 July 2026: Cotool launched Router, which adds cross-provider fallback, open-weight model access and evaluation-based model selection for security agents.
- 4 August 2026: Vega released Detection Skills, an open specification built on the Agent Skills format, with a library of more than 50 skills.
These are announcements about the layer beneath the hunt: which model an agent uses, what happens when it is unavailable, and how an agent's instructions are packaged. For buyers they turn into two questions: can we see what the agent was told to do, and what happens to hunting when a model provider has an outage?
Who is funding the category?
- 5 March 2026: Cotool announced $7.4 million in seed funding led by Andreessen Horowitz to build AI agents for detection and response teams.
- 15 April 2026: Artemis Security emerged from stealth with $70 million in combined seed and Series A funding, with the Series A led by Felicis.
- 25 June 2026: Nebulock announced a $25 million Series A led by FirstMark, alongside insider risk features, correlation rules and a Command Center view.
Which shared references moved?
- 29 January, 28 April and 9 July 2026: the Sigma project published releases r2026-01-01, r2026-04-01 and r2026-07-01, adding 33, 54 and 20 new rules respectively.
- 14 April 2026: MITRE ATT&CK created tactic TA0112, Defense Impairment.
- 28 April 2026: ATT&CK v19 split the Enterprise Defense Evasion tactic into Stealth and Defense Impairment and listed 15 Enterprise tactics and 222 techniques.
- 6 August 2026: MITRE's updates page dates v19.2, the first narrower-scope agile release, to this day. It adds groups including ShinyHunters and TeamPCP with related supply chain software.
Any system that maps hunts to ATT&CK automatically had to absorb the v19 split this year. The note on ATT&CK v19 and autonomous hunts covers what that means in practice.
How to use this recap
Announcements describe intent. Before relying on one, read the source, then ask the vendor to show the feature in a trial on your data. The checklist has the questions, and the news page is updated monthly.
